Major infrastructure projects—such as constructing new roadways or airports—can be huge undertakings. And in recent years, public–private partnerships have become an increasingly popular way they get built, serving as a tool for delivering effective, cost-efficient projects. That’s not to say that all such partnerships run smoothly; indeed, many grapple with the same challenges that traditionally procured public projects face (cost overruns, delays, and so forth). It doesn’t have to be that way. A new article looks closer at how to do better, especially when it comes to leveraging private industry’s experience in managing risks around infrastructure projects.
